Middlebury, Vt. -- The women's lacrosse team (9-8) lost 19-3 at Middlebury in the first round of the NCAA playoffs Wednesday.

Sophomore Catherine Hurley (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls) scored a pair of goals and senior Meagan Howell (Newark/Newark) added one. Howell wraps up her career 10th on the program's all-time goals list (113) and 13th in career scoring (139).

Senior Sarah Knauf (Irondequoit/Rochester) led Ithaca with a career-high six draw controls. Senior Emily Brooks (Ward Melville/Setauket) and sophomore Courtney Dowell (Massapequa/Massapequa) made three saves apiece.

The Bombers, champions of the Empire 8, were making their eighth NCAA playoff appearance.
